What is a corporate website?A corporate website is a site that officially represents a brand on the Internet. The development of a corporate website forms part of the company’s or corporation’s communication strategy.
Those two decades in which the web was stretching its shoulders and coming of age are now behind us. Company pages, shyly created within some site that today we would probably call cloud-based, have passed irreversibly into history. We no longer remember browsers and brands such as AltaVista and Netscape, and the newer generations do not remember Hit.bg. The new web designers are deprived of the sense of pride that we used to feel when Pavkata’s team from Gyuvet.cha would hand us the hot peppers.
There is nothing wrong with that. The world evolves. There was a time when the world was developing information technology. Today, the development of the world depends on it. At the end of the twentieth century and the very beginning of the twenty-first, we were protecting the purity of the web. Today, we speak more – and within the web itself – about protecting nature. Nature has become the exotic element.
Website – we have forgotten the time when all we wanted was a business card, and a corporate website was a luxury add-on mentioned on business cards, or something whose necessity was debated at corporate meetings.
Today, corporate websites are planned in parallel with the planning involved in creating a business, a company or a corporation. Laws are now being written to regulate what was once little more than experimentation.
Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft – five corporations pulling the world forward. Five corporations whose turnover and profit match those of the other twenty-five among the world’s top thirty combined.
The corporate website is a mandatory element of the communication strategy of every company and organisation. The corporate website is the media channel that each of us can create – a company media channel and corporate press centre.
A corporate website has a clearly defined purpose and target audience.
At Smart Web, we have created more than 100 corporate websites. Some of them date back to the time when we were still known solely as KAK Development.
